The clear drive

Today I was going though my old photos on my backup harddrive. Just remembering the time I first drove out to Arizona from my home in the Chicagoland area. I drove out there to visit with a special lady in my life. Anyway, one thing I found strange and I never would have expected about Arizona is that it actually snows in the “high country”. Having lived in Chicago all my life, and never really venturing and being in the American desert region, I am not familiar with the weather that is out in western North America.
I wanted to see the Grand Canyon before seeing my girlfriend in Phoenix. So, since I was taking I-40 into Flagstaff, I decided to head up north to the Grand Canyon. It was winter and I just about froze my ass off at the rim of the Grand Canyon. I started from Flagstaff, and headed into a blizzard condition in the mountains. Being from Chicago, I know how to drive in the snow, sleet and ice. However, I was amazed at how fast white out conditions could accumulate and how fast everything could clear up!
