Crossover the old Miss

Well, I since I got my new 2009, Honda Accord V6, I have just been itching to take a road trip. The problem is that I am fully employed and only have two days off. So…taking a road trip to Arizona would be totally out. The AZ trip is my favorite trip to take. I love driving out west, espically in the American Southwest deserts. So I have to make due with what I can manage in two days.

A few days ago, I took a trip out to Galena, Illinois to visit the historical town there. It was really nice, an almost endless block of shops, pubs etc… I am not much for shopping for cute items, or knicknacks. I did however stop for a small meal and a nice, ice cold beer. My main objective is to take photos! I am a creative person by nature and I love to create. I think that everyone should have a creative outlet.

Anyway, I left the Chicago area, and headed to Galena, Illinois then after a meal in Galena, took a drive to Debuque, Ia and filled my gas tank up. From there, I stayed on the Iowa side of the river on Route 52 going south. From Debuque, to Davenport, Ia, the trip is really neat. Lots of twisting and turning roads. My Honda Accord and I were up to the task. I burned up the daylight on the drive on the small roads and tried to stay along the river as much as possible. I was disappointed at how many industrial plants there were along the river though. Kinda sad I thought. But I suppose this is what helped build Chicago and other places in the Midwest. My route is in google maps, below.

Davenport and Moline, Illinois were very cute towns. The river is nice between them for the most part. Moline seemed nicer. I tried to get a hotel in Moline, but it was too expensive, so I tried the Days Inn in Davenport and was able to wheel and deal with them a little for a slightly cheaper rate. After a night in Davenport, I had breakfast at a really cool retro diner near the water front I think the name of the diner was Ross’s Diner…it had a cool, neon sign in front of the place. After breakfast I took a drive on the Iowa side to Muscatine, IA. Also a very pretty and cute town.

Anyway, without anymore babbling, are some photos I took along the way from Debuque, IA to Quincy, IL.
